GAFIRS is an Independent Lifeboat and Rescue Service, That has operated in the Eastern Solent since 1969, we serve the area's of Gosport and Fareham and also when called upon any location in Hampshire

Our Vision-

To provide a Free Marine Rescue Service, and Inland Rescue Service to the residents and community in the Gosport and Fareham Area's and Hampshire where called upon, The organisation prides itself on 'Every penny donated to the service is used for the service. no-one takes an administration fee from this service.'

It costs £35,000 a year to run the service. This does not include capital projects, such as fund raising for a new lifeboat or the replacement of equipment.

Programmes and Activities-

We run Three Rescue Craft and also additional inland rescue craft, in addition we have a cadet section of 14-18yrs who learn traditional lifesaving and canoe lifeguarding skills.

We are on call 24/7/365 and man the station each weekend and bank holidays, we also man for major events (Such as Cowes week)
